Electricians Davidson FAQs
Got a question before you book a Davidson electrician? Here's what people usually ask about pricing, licensing, response times and local jobs, and if yours isn't covered, just call.
Common questions
Money, Quotes and the $50 Off
Is the quote really free?
Yes. There's no charge to have someone assess the job on site, and no obligation to proceed once you've seen the figure.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
No, not for a quote: a free written quote and no call-out fee are standard, whether the job is a single power point or a full rewire. If you accept the quote, that price is what you pay.
How do I pay?
You pay once the work's complete and signed off, not before. The price we quote is the price you pay, and we'll cover the payment options with you on the day.
What does "$50 off your first service" cover?
It knocks $50 straight off what you owe for your first booking with us, applied automatically once the job's finished. There's nothing extra to sign up for and no catch.
Common questions
Licensed, Insured and Done Properly
What is a safety switch (RCD) and do I need one?
A safety switch (RCD) monitors the current and shuts the circuit down almost instantly if something is leaking to earth, long before it can turn dangerous. Every home should have one on every circuit, and older Davidson homes without them are the ones we get called to first.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, we hold NSW Electrical Contractor Licence #452529C, we're Master Electricians Australia members, and we carry full insurance on every job. You can check the licence yourself on the NSW Fair Trading register if you'd like.
What brands do you install?
Premium gear only: Hager, Clipsal, Beacon Lighting and SAL switchgear and fittings, never the cheapest import on the shelf. It costs a little more up front and lasts a lot longer.
What is AS/NZS 3000?
AS/NZS 3000 is the wiring rulebook every licensed electrician in Australia follows, covering circuit design, cable sizing, testing and how switchboards get labelled. We work to it on every job, not just the notifiable ones.
Common questions
Booking, Timing and Response Times
How soon can you fit me in?
Availability depends on the day and what's already booked, but response is often same or next day for most jobs. A genuine emergency gets prioritised ahead of standard bookings, and we'll always give you an honest timeframe rather than a guaranteed hour.
What happens after I call?
A real person answers, not a call centre, and walks you through what's happening. From there we lock in a time that suits and confirm it before we hang up.
What counts as an electrical emergency?
Sparking power points, a burning smell from the switchboard, exposed wiring or the power cutting out completely are all genuine emergencies. If in doubt, turn it off at the switchboard and call us anyway.
Do you work weekends?
Weekday bookings are the norm, but a genuine electrical emergency gets seen to any day of the week, weekends included. If your job isn't urgent, sticking to weekdays is usually the quickest path to a booking.
Common questions
Working in and Around Davidson
How local are you, really?
We don't run a shopfront in Davidson itself, but it's a regular part of our patch: jobs have taken us from the reserve pocket off Maitland Street through to the newer streets past Aranda Place. Calls get triaged straight away, and response is often same or next day, never a guaranteed hour.
Do you work on heritage/strata properties?
Davidson is almost entirely stand-alone houses on big blocks rather than older strata buildings, so most of what we see here is single-dwelling work. Where a strata job or a character-era property does come up, the same straightforward, code-compliant approach applies regardless.
Do you know Davidson's housing stock?
Most homes here went up from the late 1970s onward, after the old quarry land opened for development, mainly brick-veneer and full brick on big blocks. Original-era wiring is common in untouched homes, so opening the walls for a renovation often means updating the circuits as you go.
Can you handle new builds and renovations here?
Yes, both new builds and renovations, start to finish. Davidson's larger blocks often carry a pool or spa too, and any pool circuit needs to be installed and signed off to current safety standards.
